Visiting Brack – Designing Tomorrow

On February 12, 2026, our delegation of 30 students from Connect Us had the exciting opportunity to visit Brack, a Swiss e-commerce wholesaler. Founder Roland Brack, who started his career selling electronic parts from his childhood bedroom, has grown his business into a major online retailer and logistics company.
Brack achieved consolidated sales of 1.16 billion Swiss francs in 2025. The company is part of the larger Brack-Alltron Group, with over 1,300 employees across seven international locations, including its headquarters in Mägenwil and Willisau.
A highlight of the tour was the logistics center, where Brack handles around 4.5 million parcels annually and manages a stock of over 250,000 different items. Every day, 500 to 700 pallets are processed, and around 55 to 60 trucks drive in and out of the facility, all by road and not by rail.
Automation & Technology
One of the most striking elements of Brack's operations is the high degree of automation:
- 5 km long conveyor belt network
- 35 m high automated pallet system
- Storage capacity for 26,000 pallets
- Oxygen reduced to 14% to prevent fires
The oxygen content is reduced to 14%, making it impossible for a fire to start. If maintenance work needs to be carried out, the oxygen level can be increased. It is important to note that employees should only stay in the warehouse for a maximum of 30 to 45 minutes before getting some fresh air. The maximum daily working time (if maintenance work is required) is six hours.
Numerous robotic systems intelligently transport goods without fixed shelves — a system that requires a high level of trust in digitalization.
The extremely low return rate of 2% also reflects the precision of Brack’s operating processes and strong customer satisfaction.
Sustainability & Corporate Culture
From the perspective of conscious consumers, Brack actively reduces its environmental impact. Recyclable materials such as cardboard are processed (around 700 tons per year), and the company has initiatives in place to keep material consumption and greenhouse gas emissions low.
We also noticed that corporate culture is very important at Brack. The company places great emphasis on the well-being of its employees. During the tour, for example, we observed short relaxation exercises being done throughout the workday. Small initiatives like this create a more positive working environment and show that even in a highly automated warehouse, the focus remains on people.
For our journey destination, “Designing Tomorrow,” Brack illustrates how intelligent automation, sustainable practices, and e-commerce are shaping the future of retail and logistics.
